26 years after three magical witches conquered the big screen, the comedy “Hocus Pocus” got a late sequel.
Disney executives are continuing to work on the program of their upcoming Disney + streaming service. In addition to their old classics, new films and series should also be available. Now it has become known that a sequel to the fantasy comedy “Hocus Pocus” should enrich the portfolio. As Collider reports, Jen D’Angelo has already been hired as an author for the sequel, who was previously responsible for the comedy series “Workaholics”.
Original stars are back in “Hocus Pocus 2”
In 1993, “Hocus Pocus” was prominently cast with Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi and “Sex And The City” star Sarah Jessica Parker. Fans should, therefore, be delighted that Sarah Jessica Parker personally confirmed that all three women will play in the sequel. She replied to a fan on Instagram, who asked her the corresponding question as a comment on the following post (via Cinema Blend ):
“Hocus Pocus,” tells the story of the witches Winifred, Sarah and Mary, who accidentally return to Earth after 300 years of exile. Immediately they frighten their environment, after all, they still want to attain eternal youth and at any cost.
When the fantasy comedy hit cinemas in 1993, it was only a moderate success. Production cost $ 28 million, and $ 39.5 million was re-earned in the United States. Over time, however, the film became a perennial favorite in the video stores, which should eventually justify the upcoming sequel. When it will happen and what new witches we can look forward to alongside the tried and true trio has not yet been decided.
